National Rifle Association
Range Safety Officer Course

As of the 2007 printing of the BSA “Guide to Safe Scouting”, all shooting activities for Boy Scouts and Venturers and Leaders must be supervised by a currently NRA-certified Instructor (Shotgun Instructor for Shotgun shooting; Rifle Instructor for Rifle shooting; Muzzle Loading Rifle Instructor or NMLRA Instructor for Muzzle Loading Rifle shooting; and for Venturers only Pistol Instructor for Pistol shooting) AND when on the range, must be supervised by a currently NRA-certified Range Safety Officer.

The Range Safety Officer course is designed to develop NRA Certified Range Safety Officers who possess the knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations. You do not have to be a NRA Instructor to take this course.
