Within four days of 9/11, building engineers hung a 30′ by 60′ American flag on the Meridan Tower facing I-44. It was no small feat, combating the wind with a flag hanging over six stories of a 10-story building. “We received inspiring comments from tenants and other people in the community. It really just became standard operating procedure from that point on – hang that flag on Memorial Day, July 4th and September 11th,”

On this, the 10th anniversary of 9/11, the flag will not be flown. It will be retired by the Boy Scouts in an official ceremony on September 17th at the Jack Graves Scout Reservation in Broken Arrow.
