Daily On Site Elements

Sunday of Venture Adventure will begin with getting in.

Check in = Medical recheck, Swim test, Campsite

After dinner we will begin getting into our crews. Participants registering as individuals will be assigned provisional crews for the week. The crews will begin getting into the spirit of cooperation and competition through a variety of, initiative games, ice breakers and field games.

Monday starts our 4 days of off site adventures and base site preparations. Each of these four days, crews and individuals can choose between the theme focus of base camp, or for a small fee, can select from Whitewater, C.O.P.E., Climbing, or Equestrian trips.

Cooking starts out the week as the theme for our base camp. Presentations and hands on learning will help Venturers earn core requirements towards their ranger status. Lunch will be provided as a geocache exercise, while supper will be a “Chopped” style opportunity to show your crews stuff. You will receive a chest full of food to create your meal, which will be judged against other crews. Note: non winning entries will still be eaten, and no one gets chopped for the week.

Tuesday is water day, so break out the sunscreen. Crews will learn about water safety and water craft. Some crews will build a kayak (small fee), while others will build a vessel from cardboard or native materials found at base camp. What ever the creation, your crew will then participate in an Amazing Race during the aquatic carnival.

Howdy partner, its western Wednesday! Load up those balls, shot, slugs and arrows and let’s shoot something. Both markspersons and rookies will enjoy a day of discovering the significant impact of gunpowder. Along with instruction and practice, we will have a shoot off so crews can add to their point totals and establish bragging rights as to who is the best shot.

My knack Thursday has something for everyone, because it is all about you! Your knack may be in art, painting, drawing, pottery, woodcarving; or it maybe musical, playing a guitar, or singing. Some of us are just good talkers, so how about dramatic readings, stand up comedy, or improvisation? Those wishing to share their knack will have the opportunity during the evening’s Hawaiian luau and talent/ art show. What’s your knack?

Friday is the time to get out. At 4:00 am we will begin getting out of base camp by ascending to the top of Bohannan trail to catch a beautiful Oklahoma sunrise. Crews will prepare their breakfast on the top of the trail before we return to base camp. When we return to camp, we’ll celebrate the discovery of new friends, the development of skills, and the knowledge gained to help us be prepared for life.
