In 1931, the Silver Beaver Award was created to recognize distinguished service to youth in the area of a local council. Since its creation in 1931, the Silver Beaver is the highest award that can be given for volunteer service in a local council.

The Whitney Young Jr. Service Award is named on behalf of Whitney Young, Jr. a prominent social reformer and civil rights leaders. Tulsa County Sheriff Stanley Glanz served as the Chairman for the Service Awards Luncheon. The Luncheon was held April 16, 2015 at the Mayo Hotel Tulsa.
