District Awards

District Award of Merit

This is the highest award that can be given on a district level and is presented to the volunteer that demonstrate unselfish dedication to both the Scouting program as well as their community as a whole.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. A nominee must be a registered Scouter.
  2. A nominee must have rendered noteworthy service to youth in Scouting, outside Scouting, or both. Note: The nature and value of “noteworthy service to youth” may consist of a single plan or decisions that contributed vitally to the lives of large numbers of youth or it may have been given to a small group over an extended period of time.
  3. Consideration must be given to the nominee’s Scouting position and the corresponding opportunity to render outstanding service beyond the expectations of that Scouting position.
  4. The nominee’s attitude toward and cooperation with the district and/or council is to be taken into consideration.
  5. Nominations cannot be considered for posthumous awards.

District Award of Merit Form

Scoutmaster of the Year

A Scoutmaster that has a proven track record of providing the best possible program for his/her troop. The troop should have a history of participating in district activities, such as summer camp, camp-orees, popcorn sale, and Friends of Scouting. (one per district)

Cubmaster of the Year

A Cubmaster that has a proven track record of providing the best possible program for his/her pack. The pack should have a history of participating in district activities, such as day camp, cub fun days, popcorn sale, and Friends of Scouting. (one per district)

Boy Scout Leader of the Year

Someone who contributes to the success of the unit. A Unit Leader that goes above and beyond & stands out from the rest.

Cub Scout Leader of the Year

Someone who contributes to the success of the unit. A Unit Leader that goes above and beyond & stands out from the rest.

Commissioner of the Year

To an individual who has consistently engaged in exceptional commissioner service resulting in significant, positive impact on youth, units, and the district.

Burning Ember

Award given to an outstanding volunteer that goes above and beyond his/her unit responsibilities, working on a district level to make positive changes within the Scouting community. This person brings new ideas to the table, to move the District into the future and change the way our community sees Scouting.

Spark Plug

Award given to that special person from your unit that gives that spark to the unit and/or that can make things happen.
