District Executive/Manager Job description
Indian Nations Council, Boy Scouts of America – Tulsa, OK
$49,200 per year - ($45,000 base salary + $300/mth auto stipend + $50/mth phone stipend)
It comes as a surprise to many that Scouting is a solid, paid profession. Today’s professional Scouters are a diverse group of men and women sharing a dynamic career offering independence, achievement, and stability. This is work that makes a difference… work that calls one to continual learning and challenge… work that offers solid compensation, benefits and advancement.
Since 1910, Scouting has helped mold the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values and leadership opportunities with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes, and through nearly a century of experience, understands that helping develop youth puts us on a path towards a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.
A Day in the Life of a District Executive
The responsibilities are as broad as the tasks are varied and no two days are the same for a typical District Executive. No matter where they work, in the city, the suburbs, or the country side, one thing is for certain- this is anything but an “office” job. Our field staff are typically found in the community, not behind a desk. The job of the professional Scouter is to recruit, train, and motivate the BSA’s adult volunteers and to support and grow local Scouting units. In addition, they work with community leaders to rally public support for the Scouting programs. Professional Scouting responsibilities are cyclical and depending on the time of the year will determine the priorities and key tasks.
Compensation and Benefits
The Indian Nations Council of the Boy Scouts of America offers a multitude of benefits for professionals. The benefits offered are considered to be among the best in the nonprofit sector. The package includes major medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage in addition to long-term disability, accident, and life insurance, and retirement plans.
