YARD SIGNS

For unit leaders looking to grow membership this fall, visibility goes a long way. The concept is simple. Place professionally designed signs in high-traffic locations. Schools, neighborhood entrances, busy intersections, community gathering spots and local businesses all provide valuable exposure because families pass them every day.
Unlike a social media post that disappears in a few hours, a yard sign with the Scouting America logo works around the clock. That repetition helps build familiarity and awareness before a family ever attends a recruiting event.
The goal isn’t necessarily to get an immediate sign-up. Instead, it’s to create recognition so that when families hear about Scouting later, they already know who you are.
In an effort to help your unit with recruitment, we’ve created Halloween recruit cards for you to share with families in your community!
These will be available for pick up at the September RT from your District Executive. Please either hand them out at your home on Halloween or share them with other leaders or families in your pack to pass out.
There’s a spot on the back of each card where you can write your name and phone number, so interested families can easily reach out with questions about your unit.
In addition to the Halloween cards, we have produced yard signs that were passed out at Roundtable. Please display these in your front yard. If someone from your unit hasn't received your unit's yard signs, please reach out to your District Executive and District Commissioner.
Thank you for helping grow Scouting this fall—and have a fun, safe Halloween!
